DOOMICO VERSION 1.3 ßßßßßßßßßßßßßßßßßßß Here are some DOOM icons. The first three icons are regular 16 color ones that I made with an icon-drawing utility for version 1.0 and 1.1 of DOOMICO. All the icons after that are 256 colored These icons haven't been tested with 16 color monitors, but they have been tested with VGA monitors running 16 colors in Windows and they worked fine. These icons ARE freeware, but NOT public domain. If you would like to use any of these icons in one of your programs, please contact me... I'm pretty generous about it. Most of the time, all I'll want of you is to plug DOOMICO, and tell your audience where to find it. I did talk to some people on the Internet about using these icons, but after a few dialouges I didn't hear anything from them. If you are one of these people, PLEASE contact me before using these in one of your programs. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Also: I am not with nor have any relation to id Software. If you have problems with these icons, don't contact them. All the 256-color icons are screens taken out of DOOM itself. I didn't draw them. All art credit for those icons have got to the great artists that help to create the great atmosphere of DOOM. Namely Kevin Cloud and Adrian Carmack. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Here's the files that you should have: DOOM.ICO } Doom logo. DOOM2.ICO } Doom logo with red background. DOOM3.ICO } Doom playing screen-like icon. TITLEPIC.ICO } The opening screen in DOOM. I think it's the best icon of the bunch. SPLAT.ICO } Cool bloodsplat. DOOMLOGO.ICO } The Doom logo. Kind of squashed by otherwise, pretty cool. SMILEFAC.ICO } A perfect example of Windows converting the icons to its pallette. Its you (the marine guy) smiling devilishly. ID.ICO } It's the id Logo. CHAINSAW.ICO } The Chainsaw. CACO.ICO } Mr. Cacodaemon README.TXT } This file. FILE_ID.DIZ } Description file. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Installation: 1) Click once on the icon of the program you want to change. 2) Click on the Program Manager's "File" menu option. Added installation instructions in the readme text. Released 3-03-94 Version 1.2: Added another icon, corrected grammatical errors. Released 5-21-94 Version 1.3: Bam! Lotsa new stuff!!! Tons o' icons, 256-colors, alot of stuff taken straight from DOOM! Released 8-24-94 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Troubleshooting (Q & A): Q: Sometimes when I pick the icon, I'll just see a blank square where I'm supposed to see the icon. A: This happened when I was using Plug In, a Windows Program Manager shell. My suggestion is to unload the shell and then install the icon. Q: Why do some of the icons that you took straight from DOOM look different from when they're in the game? A: Windows converts the 256 color icons to their pallette. This became a big factor when I was picking which icons to put in this collection. I couldn't make a lot of really cool graphics into icons because they'd look horrible. Q: Will these icons be compatible with Windows 4.0? A: They SHOULD be... I'm not sure because Windows 4.0 hasn't come out as of the time I'm writing this. Q: Where's OS2 support? A: There's a few Windows to OS2 icon converters out there. I suggest you pick up one of those utilities. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Where you can reach me: I love comments, so please feel free to give me your opinions, and ideas.
